The brand was founded in April 1946 by Tadao Zunwei, an engineer proficient in assembly. The name of the brand comes from the Japanese pronunciation Kashio at the end of the bottle. Tadao Sumo, the late founder of Casio Computer Co., Ltd., was born in 1917 in Kurita Village, Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
