Cheap Trick originated in Rockford. It was a band named Fuse composed of Rick Nielsen and bassist Tom Petersson in the late 1960s. In 1969, it released the album Epic, which was not successful. After that, the band moved to Philadelphia and changed its name to Sick Man of Europe. In 1972, the European tour was also unsuccessful. After returning to Rockford in 1973, Nielsen and Petersson changed the name of the band to Cheap Trick, and absorbed drummer Bun E. Carlos and singer Randy “ Xeno” Hogan 。 Hogan was replaced by Robin Zander the following year. From 1974 to 1977, the band performed almost 200 performances every year.
Cheap Trick signed a contract with Epic Records in 1976, and released its first album in 1977, which sold well in the United States, but failed to make the list.
